Penfolds Bin 389 Cab Shiraz 2008 Created by the legendary Max Schubert - creator of Penfolds Grange - Bin 389 is often referred to as 'Poor Man's Grange' or 'Baby Grange', in part because components of the wine are matured in the same barrels that held the previous vintage of Grange.  First made in 1960, this was the wine that helped to build Penfolds solid reputation with red wine drinkers. Combining the structure of Cabernet with the richness of Shiraz, Bin 389 also exemplifies Penfolds skill in balancing fruit and oak. More Info

    PENFOLDS GRANDFATHER PORT

In 1915, an oak cask containing a blend of the finest tawnies the Penfolds company possessed was set aside for the exclusive use of the Penfold family. This became known as 'the Grandfather' due to the great age of the oldest tawnies in the blend. Penfolds Grandfather Liqueur Tawny, a blend of the finest old tawnies and aged in small oak casks, honours this proud tradition and is Australia's leading example of this style. The rich yet delicate fruit character harmonises perfectly with pronounced aged rancio complexity to produce a truly remarkable aged liqueur. More Info

Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Vintage 2006

Grange is arguably Australias most celebrated wine and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. Grange boasts an unbroken line of vintages from the experimental 1951and clearly demonstrates the synergy between Shiraz and the soils and climates of South Australia. Penfolds Grange displays fully-ripe intensely-flavoured and textured Shiraz grapes. The result is a unique Australian style that is now recognised as one of the most consistent of the worlds great wines. The Grange style is the original and most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard multidistrict blending philosophy. 2006 was a relatively early vintage with low rainfall and warm weather contributing to an early budburst and flowering. Mild to warm weather throughout summer helped the fruit to mature well and assisting rains prior to harvest allowed fruit to ripen with good varietal character.IMPORTANT NOTE LICENCE 36115730Please be aware that there may be alcohol restrictions in some remote regions in Australian states and territories. PENFOLDS BIN128 COONAWARRA SHIRAZ 2008

Penfolds Bin 128 is one of the most distinctive reds in the Penfolds stable. Firstly, as a 'Coonawarra Shiraz', it is one of the few Penfolds reds that isn't a multi regional blend. It is also one of only two Penfolds reds, Clare Estate being the other, to be matured solely in French oak. French oak generally lends a wine understated, aromatic characters and is therefore a better choice with more subtly flavoured wines. Coonawarra typically produces zesty, spicy and supple Shiraz fruit that exhibits a richness of flavour and a mouth-filling roundness on the palate. Bin 128 is true to this style. More Info

Penfolds Bin 407 Cab Sauv 2008 Launched with the 1990 vintage in 1993, Penfolds Bin 407 was developed in response to the increasing availability of high quality Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. Inspired by Penfolds Bin 707, Bin 407 offers varietal definition and approachability, yet with structure and depth of flavour.  A textbook Cabernet Sauvignon, the varietally expressive Bin 407 highlights the rewards of Penfolds multi-region, multi-vineyard blending, with a core of ripe fruit supported by a sensitive use of French and American oak. More Info

Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz In any six

Penfolds Bin 389 is the classic South Australian red! PENFOLDS GRANGE 1989

Penfolds Grange 1989 The 1989 Grange Hermitage is already beginning to show some attractive maturation characters and is developing a little sooner by comparison to its more robust 1988 and 1990 counterparts. Sourced from premium vineyards in South Australia, the 1989 Penfolds Grange is predominantly Shiraz with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. It has the typical solid structure and strength of character to age gracefully over the next decade or so, with correct cellaring, to produce another classic Grange.   Region Barossa Valley including the Kalimna Vineyard, McLaren Vale. Vintage Conditions Below average rainfall during the growing season and a hot February caused concern, with vine health struggling. Heavy March rains followed. Older and more established Grange vineyards were better able to cope with the heat and rain better than most. Grape Variety Shiraz (91%), Cabernet Sauvignon (9%) Maturation Matured in new American oak hogsheads for 18 months. Alc/Vol: 13.5% Peak Drinking Now - 2015. Food Matches Mature cheddar cheeses. Winemaker comments by Penfolds Rewards of Patience, Sixth Edition. Colour Medium crimson. Nose Fresh aromatic redcurrant, musky, tea leaf aromas with some liquorice. Palate Lovely early drinking Grange with redcurrant confit, blackcurrant pastille flavours, plenty of fruit sweetness, underlying vanillin oak and chocolaty, dense, dry tannins. More Info

Red Wine - 2003 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Vintage Magnum

Colour Deep red. Nose Captivating complex complete. Unraveling aromatics unfurl with air - blue fruit notes entwined with barrel ferment and maturation elements nothing singular always in tandem. Sweet soy cola and quince paste high notes escape from an ethereal layer aniseed fennel and fresh treacle ginger pudding wafting above. Palate Dark and liqueur chocolate laced with Moroccan spices. An underlying targraphite blackness is lifted by derived fruitquince pie flavours - a few years earlier they may have been more brashly varietal and elemental. Pronounced tannins sweep across the palate although they are certainly part of the wine never obtrusive. Long layered and compelling this wine is at the spicier end of the Grange spectrum. More Info

Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 In any six

Penfolds Bin 407 began life back in 1993 with the release of the 1990 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. Created as a result of the availability of high quality Cabernet fruit, Bin 407 is inspired by its older brother, Bin 707. Not only offering varietal definition, but also approachability, structure and depth of flavour. The Bin 407 highlights Penfolds' approach to multi-region, multi-vineyard blending to create a Cabernet that rewards the drinker in both early and later years. The 1998 is a classic vintage of 407 with more than ample sunshine hours to fully ripen the expertly selected fruit. Looking exactly how a superb Australian Cabernet should be looking after over a decade in the bottle. A true delight. More Info

Red Wine - 2002 Penfolds Grange Bin 95

Red Wine - 2002 Penfolds Grange Bin 95As a five year old at the time of writing and just before its annual release the wine is deep dark and impenetrable. At once Grange...oh and the aromatics just happen to be compatible with that of Shiraz. As is its want the aromas transform and complex across many planes with air and over time in the glass. At first a rich mix of dark chocolate infused with coffee bean and black liquorice then scents of tar aniseed raw pure soy and black olive. Is it oak or a hybrid barrel ferment character that can be captured as it oscillates in and out of this beguiling aromatic offering. The palate is expansive and yet finessed balanced highly defined sleek. A continuum an amalgam of dark berried flavours and textural sensations - deceptively accessible yet a hidden largesse untapped flavour and structural precursors threaten to ingress. 100 new oak is completely absorbed meshed with ripe tannins completing a palate of impressive length and youthfulness.IMPORTANT NOTE LICENCE 36115730Please be aware that there may be alcohol restrictions in some remote regions in Australian states and territories. Giveaway pristine Barossa Valley Shiraz fruit aromas fresh blueberry pie and blood plum. A barrel-fermented vapour net entraps scents of cinnamon and nutmeg violet and bergamot. WINE PENFOLDS GRANGE SHIRAZ 2006

Penfolds Grange displays fully-ripe, intensely-flavoured and textured Shiraz grapes. The result is a unique Australian style that is now recognised as one of the most consistent of the world's great wines. The Grange style is the original and most powerful expression of Penfolds multi-vineyard, multidistrict blending philosophy. "A profound and complete offer - akin to a mix of the 2002 and 2004 Grange vintages respectively... not a bad credential on any curriculum vitae!
